THOSE WHO LOVE THE LIE        

Some people are under the mistaken assumption that if they have placed their trust in false doctrines and, far from having the true God, believed in a false god, when they face the true God on Judgment Day they can just say to Him, ‘But I didn’t mean to believe in a false god. If I’d known it was a false god and not the true God, I would never have believed in him.’ Friends, no man of his own will and faith has ever recognized the true God as the true God, but has always and will always reject Him and be attracted by, and to, a false god. Only if the true God opens a man’s eyes and grants him the faith whereby he can see and recognize and believe in the true God as the one and only true God, will he ever see through, recognize and totally disown a false god as no god at all. People who believe in a false god recognize the true God as a false god. They hold to their god as the true one, not because they have some noble desire to believe in the true God, but because they have incorrectly discerned a false god as the true. What they have believed to be the truth is in reality a lie. They are operating with a faith that is natural to man and can only believe in a false gospel. No one who believes that 2 + 2 = 5 believes this because they believe 5 is the wrong answer, but because they believe 5 to be the true answer. They have not rejected 4 as the true answer because they believe it is the true answer, but because they believe it to be a wrong answer. They love the lie and hate the truth. Intending to believe in the true God will never get a person anywhere in their natural state, for no man by nature knows the true God or even seeks Him (Rom. 3:11). Man has no natural desire for the true God, but only for gods of his own imagination. That is one reason why salvation must be by grace, it must be a work of God's, for it is impossible to attain salvation through any work or desire of man's.
